FCS Up Close: Brahms and Beyond

About this event

Discover contrast and continuity across time and perspective in this program featuring FCS Principal Horn Ben Shafer, Concertmaster Byron Hitchcock, and Principal Keyboard Alaina de Bellevue. Brahms’ use of the natural horn evokes a sense of pastoral reflection, while Smyth’s writing brings a bold, individual voice that challenges and broadens traditional narratives within classical music. Together, these works create a dialogue exploring ideas of nature, nostalgia, and personal expression.
