ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fort Collins resident Kristen Marie Kovatch (46) was killed last Thursday by a mountain lion along Crosier Mountain Trail near Glen Haven; Colorado Parks and Wildlife confirmed human DNA on one of the euthanized lions.  CBS Colorado

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • USFWS warned CPW that it must submit a full report on gray wolf management by Jan. 17 or risk losing control of the reintroduction program—CPW imported 15 wolves from British Columbia in 2024 and plans more. The report follows concerns about permit compliance for the endangered wolves.  CBS Colorado

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • More than 4,000 Coloradans criticized Xcel Energy after the Dec. 17 and Dec. 19 power shutoffs during wild wind events disrupted homes and businesses. The Public Utilities Commission will soon formalize its feedback process to improve communication and explore relief options.  CBS Colorado

HEALTH NEWS

  • Colorado radon expert Margaret Horton from the Colorado Radon Program said January is an ideal time for residents to test homes for radon and advised them that free test kits are available statewide.  CBS Colorado
