- ➤ On April 5, a shooting outside Foothills Mall (on E. Foothills Parkway) left two people dead and police arrested a juvenile suspect amid reports of gang involvement. North Forty News
- ➤ Fort Collins police arrested a juvenile suspect for a double deadly shooting at Foothills Mall over the weekend — the suspect is in custody as investigators continue looking into the incident. CBS Colorado
- ➤ Fort Collins police arrested 50-year-old John Fischer, who was on parole, on charges of trafficking a minor for sexual servitude as he allegedly provided alcohol, methamphetamine and cocaine to minors while exchanging cash and clothing for sexual activities — his bond is set at $300,000 with a court appearance scheduled on April 16. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ FRCC has received accreditation approval to open the state’s first and only dental-hygiene program north of the Denver metropolitan area; the new two-year degree will welcome 20 students this fall — offering hands-on training in a modern dental clinic to help address local shortages of dental hygienists. - ➤ Seven members of the Poudre Fire Authority have been deployed to Memphis as part of Colorado Urban Search and Rescue Task Force One to respond to severe storm threats including high winds, flooding, and tornadoes. - ➤ The city will begin asphalt overlaying work on East Harmony Road on Monday, April 14 and the project will cover the road between McMurry Avenue and College Avenue for five weeks, weather permitting.
