  • Poudre Fire Authority rescued Comanche, a horse trapped in a ditch on Blevins Street on May 2 at about 4:01 p.m. Crews used a water jet and a rope system (with support from a nearby barn) to safely lift the animal back to stable ground.  North Forty News

  • Local businesses are adjusting operations amid a potential water shortage driven by drought and river disputes. A restaurant, plant boutique, and horse stable — all using conservation methods — are bracing for higher costs and supply challenges.  Colorado State University

  • Cait Mckinzie, a third-year student double majoring in art and journalism and media communication, returns as The Collegian photo director for the 2025-26 school year.   • Local fire agencies are extending staffing at Fire Station 9 near Horsetooth Open Space to address early wildfire risk after a recent grass fire near Wellington triggered a second alarm response; officials say residents can reduce risks by creating a defensible five-foot space around their homes (Poudre Fire Authority).  North Forty News

  • CSU Debate Club hosted a debate with Mayor Emily Francis on Wednesday at CSU regarding the city’s use of traffic cameras—six cameras approved after a 2023 law change—to enhance road safety amid budget cuts, and the mayor said student feedback would help shape future policy.  Colorado State University
