Poudre Fire Authority responded to two fires on May 12 in Fort Collins sparked by spontaneous combustion — one at 1:30 a.m. on North College where flames shattered windows, and another at 12:30 p.m. on Owens when a compost pile ignited and reached a nearby fence; the authority urged residents to spread out leaves, store compost in ventilated containers, and remove fire-prone plants to lower fire risks.

Fort Collins Police responded last week to nearly 1,600 calls and made 104 arrests in incidents including assaults, disturbances, and party-related issues—officers also de-escalated a combative suspect running through traffic and apprehended a protection order violator using drone and K9 units while advising residents to keep vehicles locked.

On April 30, the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program in Fort Collins rehabilitated injured raptors for release into the wild while educating volunteers and supporting research—volunteers worked with enclosures to ensure proper care as part of the program's outreach.

Transfort announced that beginning May 19, evening service will resume on Routes 6, 16 and enhancements on Routes 7 and 19 while MAX will run late-night until midnight—improving access for workers, students and residents.

The City of Fort Collins will start an asphalt overlay project on Mountain Vista Drive from North Giddings Road to Busch Drive from May 19 to May 23, weather permitting.

All traffic will detour along Giddings Road, Richards Lake Road and Busch Drive—ensuring access to homes and businesses during the work.

McClelland Drive will be fully closed to traffic between West Drake Road and West Horsetooth Road on Sunday, May 18 and Sunday, June 15 for street maintenance and resurfacing—all drivers will be detoured to South College Avenue while nearby roads remain open.
