- ➤ Poudre Fire Authority responded to two fires on May 12 in Fort Collins sparked by spontaneous combustion — one at 1:30 a.m. on North College where flames shattered windows, and another at 12:30 p.m. on Owens when a compost pile ignited and reached a nearby fence; the authority urged residents to spread out leaves, store compost in ventilated containers, and remove fire-prone plants to lower fire risks. - ➤ Fort Collins Police responded last week to nearly 1,600 calls and made 104 arrests in incidents including assaults, disturbances, and party-related issues—officers also de-escalated a combative suspect running through traffic and apprehended a protection order violator using drone and K9 units while advising residents to keep vehicles locked.
