  • The 45-mile Poudre River Trail will open June 13 with a free celebration in Timnath at an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. and family-friendly activities while crews complete the final mile between Timnath and Windsor.  The Coloradoan
  • Rising wildfire risks prompt officials to advise residents to prepare a go bag and an emergency kit with essential supplies and documents. Residents should also plan two evacuation routes with designated meeting points (one local and one out-of-town) to ensure safe exits when needed.  The Coloradoan

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On May 14, a man working on his home accidentally sparked the Sedona Hills Fire near Carter Lake that burned over 12 acres + led to mandatory evacuations; the blaze was later declared contained with no injuries or property damage.  CBS Colorado
  • A Colorado man was bitten by a rattlesnake during a Mother’s Day hike near Reservoir Ridge Natural Area on May 10, and he was airlifted to a local hospital — he is now slowly recovering at home after receiving antivenom.  The Coloradoan

  • Olympian Hunter Powell shared his excitement about serving as CSU’s commencement speaker and said he will use his Olympic experience to inspire graduates + The event is expected to create a memorable milestone for the CSU community.  The Coloradoan
  • Colorado State University announced that Randall McEntaffer (from Penn State) will begin as Dean of the College of Natural Sciences on July 1; he plans to boost student success by preparing them for careers and strengthening the college’s leadership.  Colorado State University

HEALTH NEWS

  • GenesisTissue Inc., led by CSU bioengineering doctoral student Katie Weimer, is developing a biodegradable, 3D-printed breast tissue scaffold that may help patients rebuild native tissue after surgery. The startup team of four engineers is working at CSU Spur (the local lab) to bring personalized regenerative care to women.  Colorado State University

  • Today, low snowpack has led local rafting companies to adapt by offering trips for families and beginners on the Poudre River as reservoirs sustain moderate water levels; Fort Collins’ Mountain Whitewater sees double bookings compared to last year — customers now prefer gentler whitewater experiences.  The Coloradoan

Rather than throwing ourselves a party, we're using the milestone to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association of Colorado — an organization that supports many of the families we've cared for over the past quarter century.
