Good morning, Fort Collins.

An Alpine rescue team saved a hiker struck by lightning on Torrey’s Peak earlier this week—one rescue worker recounted the emergency.

On Sunday, June 15, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Fort Collins police responded to an argument on the 700 block of Eastdale Dr. where a male suspect armed with a knife refused to follow commands and was shot by an officer after less lethal methods failed—he was taken into custody and sent to a local hospital while no officers or members of the public were injured and the Critical Incident Response Team was activated.

Fort Collins is beginning summer road construction with many closures starting in mid-June; southbound Timberline Road will be closed June 16-20, northbound Timberline Road June 23-27, and Trilby Road will close at U.S. 287 on July 7 until spring for intersection reconstruction.

Other projects will affect the Power Trail, Laporte Avenue, and Meldrum Street (drivers should check local detours) to help plan their routes.
