Poudre Fire Authority determined the cause of the fire on June 11 behind Fort Fun after heavy smoke and evacuations, and they are still investigating a second fire near Salyer Natural Area with help from Police Services.
CSU alumni are strengthening local ties by growing their Fort Collins businesses, including St. Peter’s Fly Shop which expanded its offerings, Mugs Coffee Shop serving customers since 2002, and Ivy Boutique that recently grew into a neighboring space + mentors CSU students.

Local band autumnal founded The Sun Spot as a DIY venue in Fort Collins after turning a canceled prom into a community gig built with family help.
It now hosts emerging and touring bands & draws residents to enjoy diverse music in a welcoming space.
Colorado State University in Fort Collins was honored last June with the Comprehensive Basic Needs Campus Designation from the Colorado Department of Higher Education — a recognition of its extensive programs such as food pantries, housing fairs, and free transportation.
CSU will hold its annual Hike to the A on Aug.
22 from Maxwell Natural Area, where buses will carry freshmen up an easy-to-moderate trail leading to a century-old landmark; on Aug. 29, alumni and students will gather to Paint the A and share their tradition.
Colorado State University will host its annual MURALS on April 2, 2027, where first-year and returning students present research and build community + gain mentorship from faculty; applications for the First-Year Scholars Academy are accepted until 11:59 p.m. Aug.

CSU scientists are studying forest regrowth in the Cameron Peak burn scar above Fort Collins.
They are tracking seedling survival and drought effects in tests begun in 2022 to help plan better forest management.
Crews on Ziegler Road in east Fort Collins have closed sidewalks and bike lanes to set the stage for a full traffic signal at the intersection of Ziegler and William Neal Parkway.
The project is scheduled to finish by October, and bike lane closures will last through Aug. 27.
Colorado State football, under new head coach Jim Mora, has rebuilt its roster with almost 40 transfers + over 20 high school recruits as it heads into its inaugural Pac-12 season.
The Rams will face Wyoming on Sept. 5 for the Bronze Boot in a key season opener.
