EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Associated Students of CSU held the second Senate session this week, starting with the Pledge of Allegiance and CSU Land Acknowledgment and then making procedural corrections—ratifying executive appointments, new caucus leadership and updated reports from all branches. Executive officers outlined plans such as bi-weekly meetings with Cultural Resource Centers and fall campus events while senators approved multiple new roles.  Colorado State University
  • At Colorado State University, professor Sudeep Pasricha received a $1.8 million Air Force grant to develop AI technology that will improve weather monitoring using nontraditional sensors + Internet of Things devices. He said his team will complete the design and prototype of the system by the end of 2026 to reduce risks in military operations.  Colorado State University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Larimer County is set to receive nearly $1 million in state grants to reduce human-bear conflicts, with Continental North HOA gaining $29,000 to upgrade trash receptacles, Davis Ranch HOA receiving $16,000 to secure community trash, and Larimer County Open Space awarded $30,000 to install bear-resistant cans—steps meant to help keep both residents and wildlife safe.  North Forty News

  • Colorado State football lost its season opener 38—21 to a revamped Washington on Saturday night as Washington’s rushing attack gained 283 yards while the Rams managed 265 yards. Coach Jay Norvell said the young team will review the film and work to improve when they host Northern Colorado next week.  Colorado State University
