  • The City of Fort Collins’ Adaptive Recreation Opportunities program got a $25,000 grant from The Hartford to buy new adaptive sports equipment—wheelchairs and recumbent bikes—shown yesterday at the Paralympic Program & Equipment Expo. Local athlete Martin Dawson received a custom-fit Nordic cross-country sit ski as part of the grant support.  City of Fort Collins
  • Northern Colorado law enforcement and fire crews held ceremonies and community tributes to honor 9/11 yesterday at CSU’s Canvas Stadium — including a flag ceremony, a moment of silence and a 110-story stair climb. The events helped residents and first responders remember those lost on September 11.  North Forty News

  • The Fort Collins Human Relations Commission is accepting nominations for its annual Human Relations Awards to honor those who improve inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility in the community. Nominations in four categories — Individual, Organization/Team, Youth and Rising Star — remain open through October 31 and will be reviewed by commission members.  City of Fort Collins
  • The City of Fort Collins will host an engagement event on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 3-7 p.m. at Elevations Credit Union for downtown business owners to learn about planned updates for parking management that may include paid parking measures plus expanded enforcement hours.   • A proposal to build a new 5-story mixed-use building has been submitted on the 60-year-old FarmHouse Fraternity property at 633 W. Lake St.—it will offer student apartments and fraternity spaces—to replace the aging chapter house. The Colorado FarmHouse Association will work with alumni to share more details at Homecoming this fall while the current chapter house remains active for members.  Colorado State University

  • On September 11, Colorado State volleyball returned home after four road games and secured its fourth season win with a 4-1 victory over East Texas A&M. Head coach Emily Kohan said the team rallied after a shaky third set and improved its serving with Maria Brun leading in kills with 14.  Colorado State University
