- ➤ A report commissioned by Gov. Jared Polis and the Colorado State Demography Office showed Colorado’s housing shortfall improved from a peak of 140,000 units in 2019 to an estimated 106,000 units in 2023 thanks to increased new-home construction—between 2020 and 2023, Colorado built an average of 43,000 housing units per year. - ➤ CSU researchers built man-made beaver dams on the south fork of the Poudre River to slow water flow and capture sediment after wildfires. The teams are using PALs and beaver dam analogs to study changes in water quality and take drone images, and they will use the data — gathered nearly a year ago — to guide future restoration efforts. - ➤ Front Range Fire Rescue responded to 50 incidents this week — including a structure fire, 25 medical calls, one hazardous materials call, one vehicle extrication, seven motor vehicle accidents, and 15 additional calls. - ➤ Larimer County released a sample ballot that shows Fort Collins voters will use ranked choice voting in the mayor’s race and in City Council Districts 1 and 3—voters will fill in bubbles for first, second, and subsequent choices while District 5 remains a two-candidate race.
