ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Thursday, Sept. 25, South Shields Street between West Drake Road and Rocky Mountain Way was closed after a gas leak was discovered around 1 p.m. in a construction area, with emergency crews working to repair the leak while drivers were advised to avoid intersections at Shields and Drake and Shields and West Horsetooth Road—repairs remain undetermined.  City of Fort Collins

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Lincoln Center will host a free artist reception and panel discussion on October 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.—local artists Gregory Fields, Todd Kundla, Allie Ogg, and Stephan Shachtman will share insights on public art and personal expression while guests enjoy light refreshments.  City of Fort Collins

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The City of Fort Collins launched a one-year pilot partnership with Compost Queen yesterday funded by disposable bag ordinance fees to expand food scrap composting for residents and businesses. The program will reduce landfill waste and lower greenhouse gas emissions while collecting data to guide future zero waste efforts — officials expect it to divert up to 165 tons of food waste over the year.  City of Fort Collins

  • Fort Collins will close the 200 block of Linden Street (between Walnut Street and Jefferson Street) on Oct. 3 from 5-9 p.m. to host First Friday activities that include live music, sidewalk vendors and a skateboard expo.  City of Fort Collins
  • Fort Collins will host the 2025 Urban Design Awards at the Drake Center on Monday, Oct. 6 from 4:30—7:30 p.m.—the event will honor projects that improve our city’s built environment with winners chosen by a local committee.  City of Fort Collins

SPORTS NEWS

  • Colorado State volleyball lost 3-2 to Wyoming on September 25 with scores of 20-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, and 13-15. Several players had strong blocks and kills—setter Erin Debiec broke her season assist record—and the team will play Nevada in a home game in two days.  Colorado State University
  • After Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi struggled against UTSA, coach Jay Norvell replaced him with backup Jackson Brousseau, whose strong play led to a touchdown drive and secured his start in the Washington State game on Sept. 23 — a decision seen as a turning point for the Rams.
