  • Mountain towns saw large numbers of cars drive in to see the fall leaves but local businesses did not gain many sales as tourism faded, and Georgetown shops report that even heavy traffic did not boost revenue—local owners say spending was lower than expected during the busy season.   • Thompson School District asks voters to approve Measure 5A on the November ballot so the district can extend an expiring tax and collect up to $99M for maintenance, safety upgrades and enrollment changes—without increasing property taxes.  The Coloradoan

  • Fort Collins voters will decide in November whether the former Hughes Stadium land becomes a 165-acre natural area or a multiuse site with a bike park and trails—city staff say it is too early to determine all costs and project details. HEALTH NEWS

  • Colorado State University Associate Professor Kimberly French and her colleagues published a study in the Journal of Applied Psychology that used interviews and saliva tests from 131 parent-child pairs to examine how stress builds up between parents and teens. The study found that as stress increases, sleep can lessen until extreme stress leads to longer sleep—researchers say these findings can guide future efforts to improve family health.  Colorado State University
