CULTURE NEWS

  • The Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising showed more than 20,000 pieces of historic clothing and design records, including work by Christian Dior, on Oct. 5 and Oct. 6. Students and visitors learned about fashion history and saw items like donated books, hats and apparel—offering a clear view of tangible clothing stories.  Colorado State University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fort Collins will begin asphalt patching repairs on the northbound lanes of Taft Hill Road at the Harmony Road intersection Monday Oct. 13 through Tuesday Oct. 14 if weather permits—drivers should plan for lane shifts and follow detour routes during the work.  City of Fort Collins
  • Southbound Shields will be closed to traffic between Mountain Avenue and Akin Avenue from Oct.20 to Dec.10 for utility work related to the Oak Street Stormwater Improvements Project. Traffic will detour at Laporte Avenue to College Avenue or Taft Hill Road while the northbound lane remains open.  City of Fort Collins
  • Fort Collins voters will decide on two proposals for the future of the former Hughes Stadium site on the November ballot—one calling for a natural area and the other backing a multi-use plan from a civic assembly. The city bought the land in 2023 after a 2021 vote and community groups have since debated its best use.  The Coloradoan
  • The City of Fort Collins is hosting three pop-up events in Old Town Square in October to explain proposed downtown parking updates and gather community input.   • Colorado State volleyball won its fourth conference match against Boise State at Moby Arena yesterday by sweeping the sets 3–0—continuing a three-game win streak. The Rams, now tied for third in the standings, will face MW No. 1 Utah State in Fort Collins on Oct. 11 to test their skills.  Colorado State University
  • CSU soccer beat Colorado College 2-1 yesterday in a pink-out game to support breast cancer awareness—Kacie Laurie scored 49 seconds into the game and Michaela McGowan added a goal as the Rams improved to an 8-2-2 record.  Colorado State University
