🎭 Culture
CSU’s Native American Cultural Center hosted an Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration with partners from CSU Cultural Resource Centers and KCSU to honor Native American heritage in Fort Collins—drawing local support.
The center will host further events such as the 40th annual Powwow on November 2 and Halloween dance performances while promoting Native American Heritage Month and a new art exhibit at Duhesa Gallery—inviting the community to engage.
🎓 Education
Veterinarian Kwane Stewart delivered a speech at CSU's Grand Event Hall on October 17, recounting how he nearly quit veterinary medicine before a caring act for a street pet redirected his path—he later founded Project Street Vet to help more than 2,500 animals.
He was honored as the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and said his nonprofit will expand to Denver.
The ASCSU Senate met Oct.
15 and ratified members of the Student Fee Review Board while approving bills on job descriptions, board composition, and a pilot program for emergency student housing that will spend $37,000 in Senate funds. Guest speaker Amy Hoeven, a District 5 candidate for City Council, answered student questions about her campaign and plans for Fort Collins.

CSU fired head football coach Jay Norvell on October 19 after a rocky start and an 18-26 record, with the Rams falling to 2-5 after a 31-19 loss to Hawaii.
Defensive coordinator Tyson Summers was named interim coach as CSU starts a nationwide search — this change comes before the move to the Pac-12 next season — marking a shift in leadership for the team.
At Canvas Stadium, 40,416 fans cheered CSU’s Homecoming game as the Rams fell to Hawaii 31-19 on Oct.
18 amid flashes of strong play yet overall inconsistency. The offense managed only 106 total yards before halftime and multiple sacks—factors that left Hawaii capitalizing with key plays.
