EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Associated Students at CSU ended a busy fall semester on Dec. 3 after passing more than 20 pieces of legislation and breaking event attendance records to boost student support on campus. They will launch a campus leader series next semester + work on state-level advocacy as student elections approach.  Colorado State University

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Colorado's first winter storm hit Wednesday morning, dropping 3–6 inches along I-25 and foothills before snow ended in Fort Collins by noon; patchy ice later made roads slick.  CBS Colorado
  • A heavy snowstorm hit the Front Range Wednesday — leaving icy roads and dangerous driving conditions for Fort Collins commuters as temperatures plummeted late into the night.  CBS Colorado

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fort Collins residents should not leave their vehicles running unattended to warm up because city code and state law impose a $60 fine if the engine runs for five minutes or more, and although state law offers a remote start exception (if the key is kept away), the city code does not.  The Coloradoan
  • Fort Collins has divided snow removal into eight routes after the season’s first significant snowfall, with major east-west and north-south streets prioritized to keep hospitals and emergency services accessible — residents can track some named plows online while untracked equipment clears smaller roads.  The Coloradoan
  • Fort Collins leaders approved a proposal on Dec. 2 to delay snow removal enforcement until more than 2 inches fall (except when ice is present) to ease staff workload. A final vote will come later this month as residents must still clear sidewalks promptly for safety.  The Coloradoan

HEALTH NEWS

  • The new Community Dental Clinic at Front Range Community College will begin serving patients in January 2026, offering expanded dental care for local residents.  The Coloradoan

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jim Mora joined CSU as the 25th head football coach at Canvas Stadium on Dec. 1 (bringing 105 wins from his NFL and college career) as Athletic Director John Weber outlined plans to rebuild the program after a tough season; Mora aims to lead the Rams to conference championships.  Colorado State University
  • Snowriders, a CSU club with over 1,000 members, is launching its winter season this weekend with a trip to Arapahoe Basin. Club President Addison Johnson said the event welcomes all snow sports enthusiasts to hit the slopes.  Colorado State University
