  • Call Your Mother Deli, a Washington, D.C.-based bagel shop, opened on North College Avenue on Oct. 27 and broke a three-year sales record in its first week. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Poudre School District’s Board approved a new calendar for the 2026-27 school year that delays the start by six days—most students begin on Aug. 19 and school ends before Memorial Day—while keeping a one-week fall break, a two-week winter break, and a one-week spring break.  The Coloradoan

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado governor has proposed replacing the Department of Higher Ed in response to the state's many education options, including universities, community colleges, workforce centers, and apprenticeships (further details are pending).  CBS Colorado

HEALTH NEWS

  • Colorado Parks and Wildlife warned residents that the H5N1 strain of avian influenza may lead to more sick and dead waterfowl this winter. Residents should avoid handling ill birds and report clusters of three or more dead or diseased birds to state officials.  The Coloradoan

  • CSU men's basketball beat Dartmouth 76-55 Tuesday, Dec. 9 in Fort Collins as coach Farokhmanesh adjusted the offense to hold Dartmouth under 60 points, with five players scoring in double digits and 22 bench points helping secure the win.  Colorado State University
