Dogs Enjoy Afternoon Reading (D.E.A.R.)

About this event

Expand your literacy with a furry friend at the library! Dogs Enjoy Afternoon Reading (DEAR) is a free program for young and tentative readers. Each child reads at their own pace to one or more of our therapy dogs. Parents, guardians, and siblings are welcome to read to novice readers. Pairing with the dogs is first come, first served. Check in at the event to sign in. We will have a selection of books on hand to read or you can bring your own. Each dog is accompanied by a handler to form a therapy team. Our handlers are with the dogs at all times to ensure a safe and calm environment for everyone. All of our teams undergo a background-check and are tested, registered, and insured through a nationally recognized program. RSVP Registration is not required but is appreciated for this event.
